The history of Valid began in 1957. Initially, the company was named Thomas de La Rue and started operating in Brazil as a subsidiary of the English company. Thus, the company offers specific services, such as activities in high-security printing technology and paper.

In 1993, the company's corporate name was changed after American Banknote Corporation acquired the company's shares. As a result, the company became known as American Banknote Company Gráfica e Serviços Ltda. During the same period, the company expanded its service portfolio and began operating in the card sector, security printing, and identification systems.
Later, in 2006, the company conducted its first public offering of shares. With the IPO, the company sold 57% of the shares and managed to raise R$ 480 million from the sales.
The name Valid – as we know it today – was incorporated into the company in 2010, when the company expanded its market presence and began offering products in Europe, opening up possibilities for greater growth.
