The bank serves companies with revenues of less than or up to R$ 200 million, as well as individuals, with a primary focus on retail. Despite the preference for retail, Santander also offers wholesale services, acting as a global bank.
Services are provided through Santander Corporate & Investment Banking. In this case, Santander serves larger companies with capital exceeding R$ 200 million, which require personalized services.
The history of Banco Santander began on May 15, 1857, in the city of Santander, Spain. At that time, the bank's foundation was made possible by a decree from then-Queen Isabel II, who signed the authorization for the bank's establishment.

The growth of the financial institution and its subsequent international expansion began in the 1950s. In 1999, for example, the bank merged with the Banco Central Hispanoamericano, initiating the process of Santander's internationalization. Furthermore, the expansion was made possible due to acquisitions and integrations carried out by the bank.
Thus, through the merger of both banks, Santander began the processes of entering Latin American countries, including Brazil. The definitive establishment of the bank in the country occurred in 1957, due to the operational contract with the Banco Intercontinental do Brasil S.A.

In 1970, the Santander Group began offering banking products in Brazil, with the opening of an office and a branch for services in 1982.
