Raízen is an integrated energy company that operates in the production and commercialization of ethanol, sugar, fuels, and bioenergy. It is the leading company in the sugar and alcohol sector.

This is because it is not only the largest manufacturer of sugarcane ethanol in Brazil, but also the largest individual exporter of sugar in the international market.

To market its products and services, Raízen has service stations and distribution stores under the Shell brand, which operates in Brazil and Argentina.

Each year, the company produces more than 2.5 billion liters of sugarcane ethanol, which are destined for both the domestic and international markets.

In addition, the company produces 73 million tons of sugar annually and has an installed production capacity of 1 GW of energy derived from sugarcane bagasse.

The company also markets more than 25 billion liters of fuel for transportation and industry, supplying over 7,000 Shell service stations and 66 airports.

In short, to manage all of this, the company has 26 production units, 65 distribution terminals, and more than 30,000 employees.

The history of Raízen began in 2011, through the Joint Venture between Shell and Cosan. The following year was one of consolidation for Raízen.

There was also the creation of the Raízen MIME Joint Venture, which helped strengthen the company's presence in southern Brazil.

The year 2013 was marked by the inauguration of the first ethanol pipeline for the exclusive transport of ethanol. Additionally, the first issuance of debentures by Raízen Energia took place in the market.

In 2014, the inauguration of the Porto Nacional terminal occurred, and in 2015 the company set a record for sugar exports.

In 2015, the inauguration of the second-generation ethanol plant and the inauguration of the Rondonópolis – MT terminal also took place.

Subsequently, in 2017, the inauguration of the Marabá terminal took place, and the first issuance of bonds in the international market occurred.

The year 2018 was marked by the purchase of Shell's assets in Argentina, and in 2019, the company inaugurated its first solar energy plant in Piracicaba.

Finally, in 2021, the company went public on the stock exchange. The Raízen IPO was the largest of the year, raising nearly 7 billion reais.
