The Profarma group is one of the largest companies in the health sector in Brazil. In addition, it is considered one of the most diversified companies in its field of operation.

The Profarma group operates in the following sectors:
Distribution: The distribution activity is the company's main business. Profarma's distribution division manages to reach 96% of the consumer market for pharmaceutical products in Brazil.
Specialties: In this division is Profarma Specialty, a joint venture created by Profarma with AmerisourceBergen.
Retail: Finally, the retail division is composed of Farmalife, Drogaria Rosário, Drogarias Tamoio, and Drogasmil.
In total, Profarma has more than 9 distribution centers throughout Brazil. Some of the locations with Profarma distribution centers are: Goiás, Paraíba, Minas Gerais, Rio Grande do Sul, São Paulo, Bahia, and Pernambuco.
The company serves more than 3,800 cities and receives over 590,000 orders per month. In addition, the company also supplies 37,000 pharmacies per month and has more than 10,000 items in its product portfolio.
Regarding sustainability, the Profarma group has sustainable development as its pillar through economically viable, culturally diverse, and socially just actions.

The Profarma Institute for Social Responsibility (IPRS) was created in 2006. It arose from the concern of Manoel Birmarcker, founder of the Profarma group, about the future of children in unfavorable conditions.
Thus, the Profarma Institute focuses on promoting and coordinating health assistance and early childhood education actions for children in vulnerable situations.
Pfarma's operations began in 1961 in Rio de Janeiro. At that time, the company operated from a small office located near the main pharmacy chains.
In the 1970s, Profarma began its expansion process and the enlargement of the company's corporate headquarters.

During this period, the company also increased its number of clients and established partnerships and joint initiatives with important pharmaceutical companies such as Roche and Aché.
Later, in 1997, Profarma completed the automation process for product separation at the Distribution Center in the State of Rio de Janeiro. In 1999, Profarma acquired KF Distribuidora.
This was a strategic acquisition, as KF Distribuidora was a wholesale distributor of pharmaceutical products in the state of São Paulo that had two distribution centers, one in the city of São Carlos and another in the capital.
In 2002, Profarma began operating in the specialty segment. Thus, it started supplying pharmaceutical and hospital products to hospitals and private clinics.
In 2004, the company inaugurated the Distribution Center in Salvador, Bahia. With this, Profarma began operating in the northeastern region of Brazil. In 2006, two important milestones occurred in Profarma's history: IPO and the Profarma Institute.
The IPO took place on October 26 and raised a gross amount of R$ 401 million. The Profarma Institute for Social Responsibility was created to assist children and adolescents in vulnerable conditions.

In 2007, Profarma focused on its growth. Thus, it inaugurated two distribution centers in the northeast and acquired the distributor Dimpler in Canoas, Rio Grande do Sul.
As a result, the company had 11 distribution centers in 10 states in Brazil. In 2011, Profarma acquired 60% of Prodiet Farmacêutica, a company that distributes medications for the hospital segment, headquartered in Curitiba, Paraná.
The intention with this acquisition was to strengthen Profarma's specialty segment. In 2013, Profarma entered the pharmaceutical retail segment through the acquisition of the networks Drogasmil, Farmalife, and Tamoio in Rio de Janeiro.
In addition, the company also acquired the remaining 40% of Prodiet Farmacêutica. With all these acquisitions, Profarma established itself as one of the largest players in the health sector in Brazil.
In 2014, Profarma and AmerisourceBergen Corporation, one of the largest suppliers of pharmaceutical services and products in the world, formed a strategic partnership.
In 2016, Profarma built d1000 Varejo Farma and consolidated its retail division.
In the same year, it also increased its retail presence through the acquisition of Drogaria Rosário, a brand with significant relevance in Goiás, Tocantins, Mato Grosso, and the Federal District.

Finally, in 2020, Profarma conducted the IPO of d1000 Varejo Farma. With the capital opening, R$ 400 million was raised, and the Profarma group became one of the few Brazilian companies to have more than one publicly traded company.
