Ourofino Saúde Animal was founded in 1987 by Norival Bonamichi and Jardel Massari. Initially, the company focused exclusively on the manufacture of medications and other veterinary products for production animals (cattle, swine, equines, and birds).

Between 1987 and 1999, the company experienced organic growth in its operations, especially in the production animal line. In the year 2000, Ourofino Saúde Animal decided to diversify. To do this, it began to operate in the pet product market.
From 2001 to 2004, the company invested in the construction of a new and modern industrial and technological park in Cravinhos, São Paulo. This was done because the old facilities of Ourofino could no longer accommodate its growth.
In 2007, the company began investing in its entry into the biological segment, with the construction of an industrial plant (factory and biosecure laboratory) for the production of vaccines against foot-and-mouth disease.
The completion of the works occurred in October 2008, and in December, certification was granted by the Biosafety Commission of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply – MAPA.
With this certification, Ourofino became eligible to receive virus seeds and begin the development of the vaccine. The license for commercialization was granted by the MPA, after two years of development, in October 2010.

In 2007, Ourofino also began constructing the industrial plant for hormonal therapeutic products, with the aim of developing a portfolio for a complete protocol of Fixed Time Artificial Insemination (AITF).
In 2008, the construction of the factory was completed, and the commercialization of its own production began in the second half of 2008. Subsequently, in 2014, the company went public.
In the following year, the company focused on intensifying its international operations. Thus, the company strengthened its presence in Mexico by expanding the sales team and increasing its customer base.
Additionally, Ourofino completed the acquisition process of its distributor in Colombia, aiming to increase the company's presence in the country.
In 2018, the biological factory underwent a restructuring, which enabled significant advances, including the start of production of the vaccine against circovirus (PCV2b).

Finally, in 2021, the company announced the acquisition of the biotechnology startup Regenera Medicina Veterinária, which operates in the pet and equine segment.
In summary, Regenera developed stem cell therapy for the treatment of certain diseases, such as osteoarthritis. The company holds the patent in Brazil, the USA, and Australia, being the first in Brazil to obtain MAPA registration to sell the product.
