Locaweb is a company in the Information Technology sector that operates in the software and services segment. In general, the company specializes in website hosting, internet services, and cloud computing, being a reference in the sector, both nationally and in Latin America.

The history of Locaweb began in 1998, after an investment of just R$ 30 thousand. In its early days, the founders, Gilberto Mautner and Claudio Gora, started almost from ZERO with a total structure of one server in a single room.

At the time, the Hosting business helped to expand the company's other businesses. Moreover, the initial idea was the foundation for creating a network of developers and boosting the Locaweb brand, as we know it today.
That is, at the beginning of its foundation, the company provided services very different from those offered today, focusing only on simpler hosting without the other services that were improved and added over the years.. Back in 1988, the company's mission was to build a platform that connected suppliers in the textile industry in the digital environment.

However, the idea did not move forward, as the financial returns were not exceeding the investments made. From this, Gilberto Mauther and Claudio Gora had the idea of turning the digital platform into a space where other companies could create their own websites. In other words, it was a subletting of the platform's functions.
