Energisa Group is a company that operates in distribution, commercialization, energy solutions, solar power generation, and transmission of generated energy, classified as the fifth largest energy group in Brazil. 

The company is headquartered in Cataguases, Minas Gerais, and has approximately 7.8 million consumers in eleven Brazilian states. Overall, Energisa covers 10% of the country's population. 

In addition, the company is made up of 11 energy distribution concessions, located in all regions of Brazil, as well as 6 service companies, 1 distributed generation company, and 4 transmission companies. 

The company's distributors are located in the states of Minas Gerais, Paraná, Sergipe, Rio de Janeiro, Paraíba, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Acre, Tocantins, São Paulo, and Rondônia. As a result, Energisa's concession area covers 2,034 thousand km², which is equivalent to 24% of the national territory. 

The company's portfolio also includes the following activities: 

• energy commercialization services; 

• construction, operation, and maintenance of electrical assets; 

• development of energy generation studies; 

• other activities related to the electric sector.

The history of Energisa Group began in 1905, after José Monteiro Ribeiro Junqueira, João Duarte Ferreira, and Norberto Custódio Ferreira founded Companhia Força e Luz Cataguazes-Leopoldina (CFLCL) in Cataguases, Minas Gerais. Two years later, in 1907, CFLCL went public on the Rio de Janeiro Stock Exchange. 

In 1908, the Group's first hydroelectric plant, Usina Maurício, was inaugurated in Leopoldina, Minas Gerais, with a capacity of 800 kW. Soon after, in 1912, the Group expanded the plant's capacity to 1.2 MW. 

In 1918, CFLCL acquired two companies, Companhia Pombense de Eletricidade, located in Minas Gerais, and Usina Coronel Domiciano, also in Minas Gerais. In 1928, construction of Usina Ituerê, in the municipality of Rio Pomba, began.

In the 1950s, the first and second turbines of the New Usina Maurício went into operation, both with 5 MW. In 1970, the third turbine of Energisa, with a capacity of 11.2 MW, went into operation. 

In the 1990s, the group acquired the distributor in the municipality of Miraí (MG), Empresa Industrial Mirahy, and also obtained the concession for the municipality of Sumidouro (MG). At the end of the 1990s, Cat-Leo Energia S.A, a company for the generation and construction of hydroelectric plants, was founded. 

In 2001, Energisa began construction of the Juiz de Fora Thermoelectric Plant (UTEJF), the first natural gas thermoelectric plant in Minas Gerais. The following year, simultaneously, the company began construction of five new PCHs, namely: Ivan Botelho I, Túlio Cordeiro de Melo, Ivan Botelho II, Ivan Botelho III, and Ormeo Junqueiro Botelho. 

By 2008, after changes in the company's structure, the Cataguases-Leopoldina System became Energisa Group, formed by five distributors located in the states of Minas Gerais, Sergipe, Paraíba, and Rio de Janeiro. Additionally, the group adopted three service provider companies: Energisa Soluções, Energisa Serviços Aéreos de Prospecção, and Energisa Comercializadora de Energia. 

In 2010, Energisa Group built five wind farms in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, initiating activities in wind power generation. In 2017, the group began operations in the energy transmission segment. 

Finally, in 2018, the company took over the operations of Energisa Rondônia and Energisa Acre, after acquiring both companies in the privatization auction.
