Eneva is an integrated electric power company that operates complementarily in energy generation, exploration, and production of hydrocarbons in Brazil.

In general, it holds 11% of the country's thermal generation capacity with a thermal production park of 2.8 GW. The company's proposal is to achieve a greater total of gigawatts in installed capacity, with the construction of 3 new plants.
The company operates in the natural gas electric power generation sector, in the Regulated Market, through Electric Energy Trading contracts. Additionally, it also operates through Energy Trading contracts in the Free Contracting Environment.

Currently, the company operates with 10 natural gas fields in operation that include the Parnaíba and Amazonas Basins. Eneva works with the business model Reservoir to Wire (R2W), where it has total integration, both in the exploration of natural gas and in the commercialization of the energy produced by the company.
Eneva's history began with the merger of MPX and OGX Maranhão, in 2007. Initially, MPX was a company focused on energy generation and OGX was specialized in natural gas extraction. Thus, the merger of the companies served for OGX to supply raw material for MPX's plants to produce energy.

In the same year of its founding, in 2007, the company went public, that is, the IPO, and raised a total of R$ 2 billion, which contributed to the development of Eneva.
Two years later, in 2009, the Company began its natural gas exploration campaign, in addition to acquiring 7 blocks for land exploration in the Parnaíba Basin. In 2010, after starting the exploration campaign, Eneva began drilling processes and, with that, made its first natural gas discovery.
By 2012, Eneva, along with E.ON, formed a joint venture, that is, an association, and in 2013, began commercial gas production. Still in 2013, the company changed its corporate name, ceasing to be MPX to officially become Eneva.
A few years later, in 2016, Eneva merged with Parnaíba Gás Natural and, a year later, acquired the Azulão Land Field, located in the Amazonas Basin. Recently, the company underwent changes in the composition of its board and restructured the natural gas segment.
