The Bank of the State of Rio Grande do Sul S.A, popularly known as BANRISUL, is a financial institution managed by the State of Rio Grande do Sul. In other words, it is a state-owned company that offers multiple financial services and has branches spread across Brazil and abroad.

Like other financial institutions, BANRISUL offers a portfolio of financial products, such as:
Real estate credit

The history of the Bank of the State of Rio Grande do Sul S.A, or BANRISUL, began in 1928. However, before becoming a financial institution as it is today, the bank was founded as an institution that offered rural and mortgage credit, focusing on the provision of long-term loans.

In 1931, the institution became a tax collector for the State of Rio Grande do Sul, after incorporating Banco Pelotense into its financial processes. After the bank's foundation, the expansion process soon became visible in the institution.
This is because BANRISUL opened several branches in strategic locations in RS and, at the same time, began the growth process through the incorporation of financial institutions.
Among the acquisitions made by the institution are: Banco Sul do Brasil, Banco Real de Pernambuco, Banco de Desenvolvimento do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul, BADESUL and DIVERGS – Distributor of Securities and Financial Assets of the State of Rio Grande do Sul.

The multiple service portfolio began to be offered by the bank in 1990. As a result, BANRISUL includes as products the commercial portfolio, financing, real estate and personal credit, in addition to investments. From this point, the bank consolidated itself in the financial market, with development strategies and customer acquisition.
In 2011, international purchases through the Bank's card were granted, after the institution partnered with VISA, VerdeCard and MasterCard. In addition, BANRISUL signed an agreement with the SafetyPay system to facilitate purchases on the Amazon.com website, for example.
In 2013, the financial institution was marked by corporate growth, where the offering of banking services intensified, especially in the areas of cards, acquiring and insurance. Over the years, BANRISUL underwent essential changes that contributed to its solidity in the financial market.
Currently, the bank has 518 branches, with 495 located in Rio Grande do Sul, 17 branches in Santa Catarina, 1 in Paraná, 1 in Rio de Janeiro, as well as 1 branch in São Paulo and in the Federal District. In addition to its national operations, BANRISUL also has branches abroad, with one in the Cayman Islands and 1 in Miami.
