Multiplan's main activity is the management of shopping centers. As a full-service real estate company, Multiplan focuses on planning, developing, and managing shopping centers.
Considered one of the largest companies in the shopping center industry in Brazil, it has a portfolio of 19 units in operation in the major consumer markets of the country, such as São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Federal District, Alagoas, Paraná, and Rio Grande do Sul.

In total, there are more than 2 million square meters built, over 5,800 stores, and approximately 190 million visits per year. The company's goal is to promote quality of life, community engagement, and value generation through the development of shopping centers and real estate ventures.
Although its main activity is the management of shopping centers, Multiplan is also a pioneer in the execution of mixed-use projects, where it builds commercial buildings, residential buildings, and hotels near its shopping centers.
The intention behind this strategy is to generate synergy and consumer flow in its shopping centers while contributing to the appreciation of the regions.
Social Responsibility
Multiplan carries out diverse projects aimed at benefiting residents and communities surrounding the shopping centers. In this way, the shopping centers often provide rental space in the mall for institutions to raise funds.
The goal is to stimulate donations, educational campaigns, and charitable events. Some examples of actions taken are:
E-waste: The E-waste project at Pátio Savassi has been ongoing since 2012. Through this project, the public has easy access to a location where they can correctly dispose of various types of used electronics, which are then sent for reuse or proper disposal.
Book Donation: The project carried out at MorumbiShopping was one of the actions of the 2017 Christmas campaign. Through it, customers donated books and stationery materials, such as colored pencils and markers. More than 20,000 books were collected and donated to institutions that care for children, public libraries, and municipal and state schools.
Lagoa Viva Project: Held at BarraShopping, the project focuses on spreading sustainable knowledge, coordinating and mobilizing with the intention of involving the community living around the Jacarepaguá and Barra lagoons.
Finally, in addition to the actions carried out in the shopping centers, the company is also committed to good practices in energy efficiency and uses the Free Energy Market in all its shopping centers.

Multiplan was founded by José Isaac Peres in 1975. The company's first shopping center was BH Shopping, inaugurated in 1979. Besides being Multiplan's first shopping center, it was also the first shopping center in the state of Minas Gerais.
Interestingly, BH Shopping was located away from the city center, near a roundabout. Thus, people used the expression “in front of the roundabout” to explain the shopping center's location. This is how the roundabout became the symbol of Multiplan.

After the inauguration of BH Shopping, several other shopping centers were opened throughout the company's trajectory:
1981: In this year, RibeirãoShopping and BarraShopping were inaugurated. RibeirãoShopping is located in Ribeirão Preto and is a reference in the interior of São Paulo. BarraShopping is in Rio de Janeiro and is considered one of the largest shopping and leisure complexes in all of Latin America.
In 1994, BarraShopping became the first shopping center with a medical center inside the shopping center. The BarraShopping Medical Center has 28 clinics, a diagnostic center, and a day hospital.
1982: MorumbiShopping was inaugurated in São Paulo. This shopping center was elected as the best in the city by Veja São Paulo magazine and also by O Estado de São Paulo newspaper.

1983: ParkShopping was inaugurated, which was later elected as the Top of Mind in Brasília.
1991: With the company's growth, the first international shopping center, CascaiShopping, was opened in Portugal.
1996: Inauguration of DiamondMall shopping center in Belo Horizonte. The difference of this shopping center compared to the previous ones is that it was the precursor of the fashion style by bringing together renowned national and international brands.
1999: In this year, two shopping centers were inaugurated: New York City Center in Rio de Janeiro and Shopping Anália Franco in São Paulo.
2003: Considered one of the best shopping centers in Paraná, ParkShoppingBarigüi was inaugurated in 2003.
2008: In 2008, the company inaugurated BarraShoppingSul and Parque Shopping Maceió.

2009: Shopping Vila Olímpia was inaugurated in the city of São Paulo, and ParkShopping São Caetano was launched in the ABC Paulista region.
2010: In this year, the following shopping centers were launched: VillaMall, ParkshoppingCampoGrande, and JundiaíShopping.
2011: Inauguration of ParkShopping São Caetano in São Caetano do Sul (SP).
2012: JundiaíShopping, ParkShoppingCampoGrande, and VillageMall were inaugurated.
2013: Inauguration of Parque Shopping Maceió.
2017: The inauguration of ParkShopping Canoas took place. Interestingly, this shopping center has the largest ice skating arena in the country.

In addition to the many shopping centers launched over the years, Multiplan also expanded several of its shopping centers. On the other hand, in the real estate sector, Multiplan delivered several developments such as the residential condominium Chácara Santa Elena in 1983.
In 1992, the residential condominium Barra Golden Green was launched, located on the waterfront of Barra da Tijuca in Rio de Janeiro. A few years later, in 1998, the company delivered Il Villaggio, a high-end residential condominium in Miami.
In addition to condominiums, the company also invested in other types of properties such as Morumbi Office Tower, the Professional Center RibeirãoShopping, and the Business Center BarraShopping connected to BarraShopping via a walkway.
