Melhoramentos is a company that has several areas of operation, ranging from the publishing market to forest planting and real estate management. Therefore, its areas of operation are:

• Publishing: Through its publishing house, Melhoramentos produces and releases books.

• Forests: Melhoramentos cultivates and manages forests.

• Fibers: The company manufactures high-yield cellulose fibers.

• Real estate sector: Finally, Melhoramentos also operates in real estate development.

All the areas of operation mentioned above are carried out by Melhoramentos through its subsidiaries: Melhoramentos Florestal, Editora Melhoramentos, and Melhoramentos Patrimonial.

At Melhoramentos Florestal, the cultivation and management of forests occur through the planting of Eucalyptus and Pine trees. Eucalyptus represents 80% of the planting, while Pine accounts for the remaining 20%.

Melhoramentos' farms are located in the cities of Caieiras and Bragança Paulista, in the state of São Paulo, and in Camanducaia in Minas Gerais. It is worth noting that the farms consist of 50% preserved native forest above legal requirements.

The products that Melhoramentos offers are varied, with numerous uses. For example, they can be used in cardboard, special papers, carpets, and packaging.

Editora Melhoramentos focuses on publishing children's and educational books, and recently, it has started to invest in contemporary issues.

Finally, Melhoramentos Patrimonial is focused on investing in real estate projects, especially in the cities where it has its headquarters.

The history of Melhoramentos began in 1890, founded by Antônio Proost Rodovalho.

In 1900, Melhoramentos started supplying paper to the company M. L. Bühnaeds & Cia. The following year, with the increase in demand for Melhoramentos' products, the company inaugurated its second paper machine.

In 1908, an exclusive railway line was built between the company's factory and São Paulo, as a way to alleviate the problem of transporting certain products that were in short supply in Caieiras.

In 1912, the city began to experience problems with energy supply, which led Melhoramentos to consider its own solutions.

In the same year, the company began producing eucalyptus to supply its ceramic lime kilns. Additionally, a dam and a hydroelectric plant were built.

In 1919, Melhoramentos' paper production reached the mark of 1 million kilos per year. The year 1923 was an important historical milestone for Melhoramentos, as it saw the launch of Sul América paper, the first in Brazil.

In addition, Volga paper and paper towels for barber shops were launched. In the following years, the company continued its sustainable expansion process.

Finally, in 1977, with almost 100 years of history, it went public and became listed on the stock exchange. It is listed in the Consumer Cyclical sector and in the Newspapers, Books, and Magazines segment.
