Mater Dei Health Network is a company focused on providing hospital and oncology services. The company is a benchmark in the country and also the largest private network in the state of Minas Gerais, in addition to holding international certification as a reference in the sector.

Mater Dei Santo Agostinho Hospital was founded in 1980 by José Salvador Silva. Soon afterward, a breast medicine unit called Unimater was created. The unit established Mater Dei as a benchmark hospital for the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer in Minas Gerais. During this same period, the first hospital focused on intensive pediatric care was also inaugurated, with a complete team dedicated to pediatric patients.
In 1989, a historic milestone took place at Mater Dei's units: the first child conceived through in vitro fertilization in the state of Minas Gerais—and the third in the country—was born.
A few years later, more specifically in 1992, Mater Dei became part of PAEX, Partners for Excellence, of Fundação Dom Cabral, with the aim of investing in the professionalization and management of its employees.
The hospital began 1997 with the construction of a second block at the Santo Agostinho unit, featuring a helipad, inpatient units, and an obstetric center. The following year, the Clinical Pathology Laboratory, offering 24-hour service seven days a week, was inaugurated. In 2001, Mater Dei's new Obstetric Center and Maternity Hospital were launched, and in the same year the hospital joined ANAHP, with the aim of adopting better management practices in the healthcare system.
The year 2003 was marked by the launch of the Qualitas Project, which aimed to develop integrated standardization and quality protocols. The following year, in 2004, the hospital received the Level 3 Certificate of Excellence awarded by ONA, becoming one of the first hospitals in the country to receive the distinction. In 2005, the hospital once again received ONA certification and was also honored for its 25 years of service.
Seeking to increase its service capacity, the Oncology Unit was expanded in 2010 in accordance with the most advanced technological standards. The Mater Dei Contorno unit was inaugurated in 2014, featuring 22 floors and capacity for 357 beds. The following year, Mais Saúde Mater Dei was created, an outpatient clinic offering various specialized services.
The Integrated Cancer Hospital at Mater Dei Contorno was inaugurated and Mater Dei Medicina Diagnóstica was implemented in 2016. In addition, Mater Dei Contorno received JCI accreditation, an international certification. A service focused on pediatric cardiovascular surgery was also created, and hemodialysis services were expanded. In 2017, the Sports Medicine specialty center and the Mater Dei Network's Metabolic and Bariatric Care program were inaugurated.
In the following years, the network's growth intensified and became even more evident with the inauguration of Mater Dei Betim-Contagem in 2019, featuring more than 400 beds. Construction also began on Mater Dei Salvador, marking the first unit outside the state of Minas Gerais. In addition, Mater Dei Corporate and Operator was launched, offering its employees coverage of 100% of the premiums paid by the hospital. In 2020, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the hospital continued operating uninterruptedly in pursuit of better outcomes for its patients, adopting various measures and remaining available to provide support to the population.
