A private company focused on basic sanitation in Brazil, Igua is managed by IG4 Capital.
Currently present in the states of Alagoas, Mato Grosso, Santa Catarina, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Paraná, the company operates in 39 cities. The company is also the third largest private company in the sanitation sector in the country, working through 18 operations, of which 15 are concessions and 3 are public-private partnerships.
The company has 4 focuses that guide its actions regarding its basic sanitation project for the entire country:
Water Security: aiming to ensure access to potable water with quality and sustainability, focusing on the preservation and conservation of the environment;
Efficiency in Water Cycle Management: which consists of the pursuit of optimized and sustainable water use. For this initiative, the company partnered with the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development – CEBDS;
Responsibility in Sewage Collection and Treatment: commitment during the process of collection, treatment, and disposal of sewage;
Respect for People: seeking to create an organizational culture that brings satisfaction and quality of life to its employees, as well as working to strengthen good relationships with the population of the municipalities in which it operates.
The PLANSAB, or National Basic Sanitation Plan, developed in 2008 and published in 2014, aims for the collective construction of peace through basic sanitation throughout the country, in pursuit of a better quality of life for the population. After its publication, the plan was monitored by the GTI, Interinstitutional Working Group.
Aiming at this need, Igua was founded in 2017, with the intent of being the largest basic sanitation company in the country, focusing on cooperation to bring Brazil to achieve basic sanitation services and water and sewage treatment in all its regions.
With 15 concessions and 3 public-private partnerships, Iguá is currently active in 39 municipalities across 6 states in the country.
In 2020, it became the first fully private basic sanitation company to debut on the stock exchange.
