Ferbasa – Cia Ferro Ligas da Bahia – is a Brazilian company focused on the production of ferroalloys, being the only integrated producer of ferrochrome operating in the Americas. Additionally, it is a dollarized company, meaning it has greater appreciation when the US dollar is strong.

In other words, dollarized companies are those that generate revenue in dollars, such as those working with paper and cellulose, for example. Currently, Febrasa holds practically all of Brazil's chromite reserves, where it focuses on the manufacturing and marketing of ferroalloys.
It has a verticalized operation, as well as an electro-intensive one, and also plays a significant role in terms of social and environmental responsibility. Basically, the company has activities in the sectors of renewable electric energy production, as well as operating in metallurgy, mining, and forestry production.
Febrasa holds about 95% of Brazil's chromite reserves, in addition to working in an area designated for the production of quicklime and also has four quartz mines. In total, the company has 14 furnaces reserved for reduction.

The company's product portfolio includes the four main classes of ferroalloys. That is, the company works with silicon iron – which is divided into classes of 75% purity and chrome – in addition to ferrochrome alloys, which represent high and low carbon.
Thus, one of the company's main objectives is to produce various types of high-quality ferroalloys, aided by maximum efficiency possible, as well as lower production costs. The production of ferroalloys is the most profitable final product of the company.
As it has a verticalized production process, Ferbasa uses almost all the raw materials it needs for the production of its own products. As a result, the company does not need to make significant investments to assist in the production processes. To purchase energy, for example, Ferbasa maintains a contract with Companhia Hidrelétrica do São Francisco, where it secures low prices for production.

When there are leftover products from the ferroalloy production processes, Ferbasa sells them to other companies. Among the main products sold are chromite sand, wood, lime, slag, and electric energy.
In forestry production, Ferbasa has a territory of 64 thousand hectares, of which 25 thousand are focused on eucalyptus planting. On the Stock Exchange, the company is listed under the codes FESA3 and FESA4, and in the fractional market with the codes FESA3F and FESA4F.
The history of Ferbasa began in 1961, when engineer José Cargosinho de Carvalho Filho founded the company in the municipality of Campo Formoso, Bahia. The company's mineral complexes are located in the same place where the company was founded, and the Industrial Park is located in Pojuca, also in Bahia.

Since its foundation, the company has operated in various sectors, such as renewable energy, metallurgy, forest resources, and mining. Due to its broad operations, along with its verticalized methodology, Ferbasa has gained recognition in the market. The recognition is also provided by the development of quality products, as well as concern for social and environmental aspects.
Currently, the company qualifies as a leader in the manufacturing of ferroalloys, in addition to being the only integrated manufacturer of ferrochrome in all the Americas. Furthermore, Ferbasa is ranked among the 10 largest companies present in Bahia.

In 2018, after acquiring the BW Guirapá Wind Complex, the company began to allocate the energy produced to the Regulated Contracting Environment. Being a dollarized company, in addition to having a strong presence in the national territory, Ferbasa has its operations directed towards the changes that occur with the dollar.
