Electro Aço Altona S.A. is an industry focused on developing casting and machining activities for the supply of carbon steel and alloyed (low, medium, and high alloy) parts and in alloyed irons for special applications.
The company is a global reference brand that exports to over 25 countries. In other words, it is among the largest Brazilian companies in its sector of operation.
The company acts as a supplier for national and international markets with its manufacturing of raw or machined parts, isolated or with service characteristics for engineering solutions in part of subassemblies and also with equipment complements according to project specifications and technical usage standards.
In short, with its products, the company aims to meet two demands:
Repetitive: It is the supply of parts and components for manufacturers of machinery, heavy transport, and automotive.
On demand: This refers to the supply of parts for the sectors of capital goods, energy generation, dredging, mining, gas/off-shore, and oil.
Regarding the environment, Electro Aço Altona S.A. carries out prevention and care actions for the environment.
In addition, it invests in the education of its employees so that they also become part of this prevention and care for the environment. Some examples of actions implemented by the company are:
Installation of its own water treatment system.
Exhaust system in the foundry and iron dust.
Reutilization of molding sand inputs, after operational use, reducing the consumption of new sand.
Sending hazardous and non-hazardous waste for co-processing and storage in industrial landfills.
Electro Aço Altona S.A. was founded on March 8, 1924, under the name Auerbach & Werner. This name derives from the names of its founders: Ernest Auerbach and Paul Werner.
In the beginning, the company was just a small foundry and mechanical repair shop. Thus, it manufactured products such as cast iron pots, precision scales, and meat grinders.
Over time, the company grew, and in 1934 it purchased an electric arc melting furnace. Thus, the company began to cast steel and has since been known as Electro Aço Altona S.A.
In the 1940s, World War II occurred, and for Electro Aço Altona S.A., this was a period marked by technological evolution in the production of steel bells replacing those made of bronze.
Later, in the mid-1960s, the company was recognized as one of the giants in Brazil. With the growth and expansion of its operations, the company began exporting its products in 1973.
Thus, the company started supplying its products to countries such as the United States and Germany. By the 1990s, the company installed an AOD refining furnace, which enabled the production of noble alloys and steel resistant to high temperatures.
As the market in which Electro Aço Altona S.A. operated became increasingly demanding, it sought certifications. Thus, the IBQN and ISO 9002 standards served to recognize the quality of its manufacturing processes.
It is worth noting that in 1994, Electro Aço Altona S.A. became one of the first steel foundries to obtain such certifications. In order to increase its market share, Electro Aço Altona S.A. participated in the Europort fair in 2003.
In summary, this is the largest fair in the dredging, naval, and off-shore segment in the world. It was the first Brazilian private company to participate in this important event.
In the following years, the company continued to expand its operations and obtain certifications that prove the quality of its processes. The years 2011 and 2012 were marked by investments made in the production process.
At that time, modern machining centers, thermal treatment furnaces, machining and molding equipment, engineering and mechanical software were acquired. In addition, investments were made in the environment.
