Karsten is a manufacturer and retailer of bedding, table, bath, and decoration items. The company also operates in the production of decorative fabrics through the brand Karsten Decor, where each collection has its own characteristic.
Karsten's headquarters is in Blumenau, Santa Catarina. The company also has a factory in Ibirama (SC), a distribution center in Gaspar (SC), and ten own stores in southern Brazil.
The company has received several awards and certifications such as Great Place to Work, IBEF Sustainability Award, and As Melhores da Dinheiro, an award from Isto é Dinheiro magazine.
Karsten's history began in 1882 with the creation of Tecelagem Roeder, Karsten & Hadlich, a company with a small weaving mill and looms acquired in Germany.
In 1916, the company began producing tablecloths, and in 1933, it changed its corporate name to Companhia Karsten S.A. By 1941, the company started producing decorative fabrics.
During the same period, it changed its name again. Thus, the company became known as Companhia Têxtil Karsten. The year 1971 was marked by two important events.
The first was the beginning of the export of the company's products. The second significant event was its initial public offering on the stock exchange, with the company listed in the Consumer Cyclical sector and in the Yarn and Fabrics segment.
In 1976, the company began producing bath mats, and in 1983, it started manufacturing bedding. In 1990, the company began producing flat fabrics in Jacquard and creating products with differentiated designs.
Subsequently, in the year 2000, the company changed its corporate name again. Thus, it became known as Karsten S.A. In 2001, the company innovated with the Sempre Limpa tablecloth, featuring a finish that repels stains and facilitates cleaning.
The following year, the company innovated again with Acquablock, an exclusive waterproof fabric that repels water and protects from the sun.
In 2005, Karsten created a new brand, Casa In, with various products that met daily needs at affordable prices. That year, the company also innovated with the Zero Twist Towel, made with smart yarn that does not twist during its production.
Five years later, in 2010, the company acquired the São Paulo-based company Trussardi and began the project for Trussardi monobrand stores. Also in 2010, the company innovated with the Ant Ant Towel, featuring an exclusive finish that repels insects.
By 2015, Karsten created two new brands, Karsten Ateliê, a line for crafts, and Karsten Design, towels with an innovative corrosion process.
Additionally, Karsten innovated with Íons Care, bedding with antimicrobial action, and Wall Decor, practical and smart fabrics for walls.
In 2017, Karsten innovated with SoftMax Technology, which involves adding air between cotton fibers, making bath towels bulkier, softer, more comfortable, and with greater absorption. Also in 2017, Karsten received the Great Place to Work certification.
In 2018, Karsten created a new brand, Karsten Home, with a line of exclusive products for Karsten's own stores, featuring a complete mix of home products. Furthermore, it received the Great Place to Work certification for the second consecutive year.
The following year, Karsten introduced the Unika towel to the market, promising to change the perception of the bath category by providing more comfort, softness, and absorption. For the third consecutive year, the company was awarded the Great Place to Work.
Finally, in 2020, Karsten was considered the sixth longest-standing company in Brazil. Currently, Karsten offers its products in over seven thousand points of sale throughout Brazil and is present in more than 20 countries.
