Naturgy is a company that provides gas services in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. Naturgy is the largest group in natural gas sales throughout Brazil.

It is present through two distributors in Rio and one in São Paulo, serving 74 municipalities. Thus, it serves more than 1.1 million residential, commercial, and industrial customers.

Naturgy operates in five segments: residences, businesses, industries, thermal generation, and natural gas vehicle stations.

Its distribution network has over 8,000 km, with the company carrying out its distribution and commercialization activities in Brazil by acquiring natural gas from Petrobras and transporting it through its distribution network to deliver to customers.

Naturgy also provides some types of services. For example, in Rio de Janeiro, the company performs activities such as: reading verification, reconnection for payment, and reactivation of points for new residents.

In São Paulo, the company offers services such as: technical assistance for heaters and repair of water leaks.

Additionally, in Rio de Janeiro, Naturgy offers various solutions such as, for example, the GNV Kit, which consists of installing gas in vehicles to prevent engine damage and reduce fuel costs. Other technical gas services offered by the company include:

• Installation of equipment;

• Conversion of equipment;

• Construction of internal installations;

• Preventive and corrective verification;

• Application of resin.

Finally, customers can also purchase home packages. The package options are:

1. NatGas: This service includes access to preventive and corrective verification of natural gas equipment and internal installations.

2. NatLar: Involves labor for maintenance and repair of various household items such as, for example, electrician, plumber, and locksmith.

3. NatCombo: It is the complete package that encompasses the services offered by NatGas and NatLar.

The history of Naturgy began in 1854 with the Lighting and Gas Company (CEG). It is considered one of the oldest companies in Brazil.

Three years after its founding, the company was already lighting the city with more than 3,000 public lamps, 3,200 residential lamps, and three theaters. In 1865, the company was sold to an English firm, which took over gas services by the Rio de Janeiro Gas Company Limited.

On its own initiative, in 1911 the company decided to build a factory in the lower part of São Cristóvão, which increased its supply capacity to 180,000 m³ per day. In 1967, Naturgy began catalytic cracking of naphtha, intending to abandon coal as a raw material.

A few years later, in 1982, the company abandoned naphtha as a raw material and focused its attention on the use of natural gas. In 1997, the company was privatized, with the technical operator being the Gas Natural Group.

Between 1998 and 2007, the company expanded its services by converting the entire city of Rio de Janeiro to the use of natural gas. Subsequently, in 2009, there was a merger of the Gas Natural Group with Unión Fenosa, resulting in the formation of the Gas Natural Fenosa Group.

The company's operations in São Paulo began in 2000 when the company won a bid from the São Paulo State Public Utility Commission (CSPE) to implement gas distribution services.

In 2011, the brand underwent changes and the company became known as CEG Gas Natural Fenosa. Finally, in 2018, the company permanently changed its name to Naturgy.
