Excelsior Alimentos is a food industry focused on producing pork-based products and other proteins.
Thus, its portfolio consists of products such as: protein-based processed meats, frozen vegetables, and ready-to-eat meals. The company serves everyone from small retailers to large chains.
It primarily serves markets in the southern region of Brazil, in the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Paraná, and Santa Catarina, through its own logistics chain.
Currently, Excelsior Alimentos is controlled by the Seara brand, which in turn is a subsidiary of JBS, reinforcing its operations with expertise and financial support to maintain the brand's operations.
In fact, in 2021, the parent company of Excelsior Alimentos made a significant investment in the company, focusing on optimizing operations.
Excelsior Alimentos was founded in 1893 by Abrahão Tatsch. In the beginning, the company sold lard in cans ranging from 2 to 20 kg. In the same year the company was established, its founder passed away.
As a result, Mr. Adolfo Evers took over the management of the company. A few years later, Mr. Adolfo Evers also passed away and was succeeded by Mr. João F. Baumhardt, in the management of the company that until then was called EVERS.
Subsequently, in 1940, Baumhardt Irmãos, founded in 1926 by brothers João and Carlos Baumhardt, succeeded the company of the EVERS shareholders. Thus, it took over its liabilities and assets, which included the first slaughterhouse built in the 1930s, along with the consolidation of the Excelsior brand.
By 1950, the Baumhardt brothers brought European production techniques to the company. Additionally, there was the consolidation of the Excelsior slaughterhouse facilities.
In 1959, Baumhardt Irmãos was transformed into a corporation and its corporate name became Baumhardt Irmãos S.A.
A few years later, in 1968, Baumhardt Irmãos went public on the stock exchange, being listed in the Non-Cyclical Consumer sector, in the Meat and Derivatives segment.
In 1979, the company underwent major transformations in structure and new technologies at Excelsior. That is, new technologies were inaugurated both at the company's plant and a new slaughterhouse. There was also the beginning of Agropecuária Excelsior.
In 2000, the company decided to cease slaughtering at its own slaughterhouse and its farming activities. Thus, it began partnerships with large national suppliers.
The following year, logistics that had previously been handled by the company's own fleet was outsourced. In 2003, the company changed its corporate name from Baumhardt Irmãos S.A. to Excelsior Alimentos S.A.
By 2015, it began to integrate into large business groups, which are the controllers of its capital. Currently, Excelsior Alimentos is part of Seara, which is one of the main brands in southern Brazil.
