Americanas is a company in the cyclical consumer sector that operates in the diverse products segment. In total, the Company has more than 1700 stores spread across the five regions of Brazil, in addition to the Federal District, totaling 500 cities.

Ranked as one of the largest retail companies, Americanas operates with the perspective of physical stores and e-commerce, where it offers more than 60,000 items for sale in the Traditional store and approximately 15,000 items through the Express store.
In 2006, the company merged Americanas.com with the electronic portal Submarino. After the merger, B2W Digital emerged – a company that aims to connect people, products, services, and businesses on a single digital platform, being a leader in Latin America. In addition to Americanas.com, B2W manages important brands such as Submarino, Shoptime, and SouBarato.

The company's business model is based on a unique approach that combines innovation in digital platforms and enhancement of the services provided. The set of strategies of the Company results in what the company calls the Americanas Universe, where physical stores and digital platforms work complementarily with each other. Proof of this is the company's slogan “Everything. Anytime. Anywhere.”
The history of Lojas Americanas began with the idea of four Americans to create a store that offered low prices and quality products. Thus, in 1929, John Lee, Glen Matson, James Marshall, and Batson Borger founded the first Lojas Americanas in Niterói, with the slogan “Nothing more than 2 thousand réis.”

The entrepreneurs' idea was to bring to Brazil a store model that was already successful in the United States and in European countries at the time. Successful abroad, the store model with accessible prices was obviously also a milestone in Brazilian commerce. Proof of this is that by the end of the first year of Americanas' foundation, the company already had four stores: one in São Paulo and three in Rio de Janeiro.
By the 1940s, the company became a publicly traded company and, as a result, went public. A few years later, in 1982, Lojas Americanas began to have shareholders from the Grupo Garantia, who joined the company as collaborators.
