Maria S.A is one of the most well-known clothing store chains in Brazil, specializing in women's fashion and women's intimate apparel. In Brazil, it was a pioneer in using the online sales system (e-commerce) in 1999, reaching customers in cities where the company did not have a physical store.

In addition to women's fashion, Marisa also offers a wide range, with departments for men's and children's clothing. The main focus of the brand – famously known for the slogan “From Woman to Woman” – is the group of women from Class C, aged between 20 and 35 years.
Currently, the company has approximately 150 million registered customers and more than 12 million proprietary cards in circulation. In addition, the company has over 13,000 employees, with 70% of the workforce composed of women.
The history of Marisa began in 1948, with the founding of the store Marisa Bolsas. At that time, the store was envisioned by Bernardo Goldfarb who, from a very young age, was already immersed in the world of entrepreneurship, due to his father's shoe store.

From the beginning, Goldfarb aimed to create something that catered primarily to the Class C of Brazilian society. Soon, Marisa Bolsas became popular among female consumers because it offered quality products at affordable prices. Initially, the store was located in Praça Ramos, in downtown São Paulo.
