C&A is a company that has been operating for over 180 years in the retail market. In total, the company has, only in Brazil, more than 280 stores in 125 cities, with 15 thousand employees across all stores. Worldwide, the company has units in about 24 countries, spread across Europe, Asia, and Latin America.

In addition to fashion retail, C&A also offers financial services, which operates alongside Banco BradesCard. Through the financial area, the company provides customers with services such as issuance and management of the C&A Card, insurance, and personal loans.
Basically, the company specializes in fashion retail products. As a result, it stands out in the sale of clothing, mobile phones, accessories, and electronics, for example. To achieve this, the company uses a sales strategy focused on translating the main fashion trends into various styles and preferences. Additionally, it offers an affordable price.
According to Ibevar 2012, C&A is classified as the largest department store chain in Brazil. Furthermore, it ranks among the top twelve as the largest retail company in the country.

One of the points that adds the most value to the brand is its responsibility towards sustainable issues. This is because the company is considered a pioneer in including sustainability-related products in its catalog. In this regard, C&A has, in Porto Alegre, an Eco Store, focused on supporting and prioritizing sustainability.
The company's target audience is young women aged 18 to 35, although it also offers some products for men, such as accessories and clothing. As part of the expansion process, that is, in addition to physical stores, C&A also has an online store. The intention behind creating the store was to reach as many people as possible.
Currently, the company has more than 1.8 thousand units in 24 countries, spread across Europe, Asia, and Latin America. In Brazil alone, there are over 280 stores in 125 cities.
C&A went public in 2019 and is listed on the Novo Mercado, the highest level of governance on the Brazilian Stock Exchange, with the code CEAB3. In the year of the IPO, the company raised a net revenue of R$ 5.2 billion. In total, the net profit was R$ 971.9 million.

The history of C&A began in 1841, when the brothers Clemens and August decided to leave agriculture and focus on commerce. The Dutch, who founded the company using the initials of their own names, established the first C&A unit in the Dutch city of Sneek.

At that time, the company stood out for being the first store in the world to offer customers ready-made clothing. With the success of the first store, the Dutch brothers soon expanded the business to Germany in 1912 and then opened units in other European countries.
In Brazil, the first store was inaugurated in 1976 in São Paulo, at Shopping Ibirapuera. Some time later, in 1991, the company created the C&A Institute, focused on investing in the education of children and adolescents.
By 2013, the company became one of the first retail stores to develop products focused on sustainability. As a result, C&A created initiatives such as the Electronic Waste Collection Program, responsible for collecting, for example, more than 72 items, such as mobile phones, batteries, and batteries.

In the same year, the company launched the first store focused on sustainability, the Ecoefficient Store, in Porto Alegre. Another inclusion initiative aimed at the public was the partnership with designers and celebrities to develop exclusive design pieces for customers at an affordable price.
The democratization of access to fashion for people was achieved through the C&A Collection. Finally, in 2019, the company opened its IPO and joined the Novo Mercado, the highest level of governance on the Brazilian Stock Exchange.
