A Afluente Geração e Transmissão de Energia Elétrica S/A is a publicly traded company, controlled by the holding company Neoenergia, which holds about 87.84% of the company's shares.
The company is responsible for the study, design, construction, and operation of electric power generation and transmission systems and similar services. To this end, Afluente Geração operates through Small Hydroelectric Plants (PCHs), Correntina and Alto Fêmeas, in addition to Transmission Lines.
In other words, the company operates in the transmission of electric power, where it has, only in the state of Bahia, 489 km of transmission lines. In addition, the company has an installed capacity of 600 MVA.
Neoenergia, the main controller of Afluente Energia, emerged in 1997, after the distribution companies in Bahia (Coelba) and Rio Grande do Norte (Cosern) were privatized.

Afluente was created in 2009, after another company controlled by the Neoenergia Group underwent a spin-off. At that time, the company took over the assets related to the generation and transmission of Coelba.

A Afluente Transmissão de Energia Elétrica S.A – Afluente T – was established in 2009 with the aim of taking over the generation and transmission assets of the Electricity Company of the State of Bahia – Coelba, a company that was also part of the Neoenergia Group.
Currently, Afluente T operates with nine transmission lines, with a total length of 450 kilometers. In addition, it has three substations: Tomba, located in the municipality of Feira de Santana; Brumado II, in the city of Brumado; and Itagibá, located in Itagibá, all in the State of Bahia.
Together, the substations have an installed capacity of 600 MVA. Thus, Afluente Geração e Transmissão de Energia emerged as responsible for the generation and transmission activities, where the company's assets were segregated from Coelba.
