Still at the end of the 19th century, in the year 1889, emerged the São Paulo Tramway, Light and Power Company Limited, which marked what would become the beginning of Tegra. In the following decade, in 1901, the Parnaíba Hydroelectric Plant was inaugurated, which would assist in the expansion of urban lighting services in São Paulo. Seven years later, the Fontes Plant was inaugurated by the Rio de Janeiro Tramway, Light and Power, being considered the largest in the country at the time.
Years later, in 1916, there was the unification of the Rio de Janeiro Tramway, Light and Power with the São Paulo Telephone Company, thus originating the CTB – The Brazilian Telephone Company. Subsequently, the company cooperated with the Christ the Redeemer project in all its phases, up to the moment of its inauguration.
In 1947, the company became a global asset manager, with investments in several countries around the world.
Defining its new phase, the company in 1958 changed its name to Brascan Organização e Investimento LTDA, starting from that decade to also work with the real estate market. The following years were marked by several ventures in the real estate segment.
In 2006, Brascan went public, launching itself on the stock exchange. In 2008, the company acquired the Tamboré brand, and the following year, in 2009, also acquired MB Engenharia and Company S.A. In the same year, Brascan changed its name to Brookfield Incorporações. Under the name Brookfield, several important projects for the company's history were launched, in addition to becoming recognized and globally awarded. However, in 2017, it changed its name again, calling itself Tegra.
