During its 40 years of operation, Direcional Engenharia is recognized as one of the largest construction companies in Brazil, focusing on popular and mid-range developments, with operations in various Brazilian regions.
Throughout its history, its performance in incorporation and construction has earned it a verticalized structure and standardized construction processes. In this sense, it was only in this way that it became possible to construct large-scale developments, in addition to operating at extremely high efficiency levels, greater than those of its competitors, for example.
Present in the Southeast, Central-West, North, and Northeast regions of Brazil, Direcional Engenharia has developments in several states and currently maintains its focus on nine of the largest metropolitan regions in the country, such as São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Manaus, Brasília, Salvador, Fortaleza, Recife, and Goiânia.
Currently, the company has a land bank valued at R$26 billion, which could give rise to 151 thousand units to be built. This volume of land would be capable of supporting annual launches that would generate more than R$2.5 billion over the next 10 years.
Founded on February 19, 1981, Direcional Engenharia began its activities in Belo Horizonte, incorporating and constructing popular developments, in addition to carrying out works for the public sector.
Already in the 1980s, the company began the process of consolidating Direcional in the state of Minas Gerais. Thus, the company participated in and won important public tenders for infrastructure works in other municipalities in the state (basic sanitation area and health sector works).
The first development outside Minas Gerais was built in Brasília in 1992. From then on, Direcional began to establish various partnerships with Caixa Econômica Federal (CEF) to finance works aimed at the less privileged economic classes.
In the early 2000s, Direcional launched its first development in the interior of São Paulo, in the city of Campinas. Thus, the company also began to seek new markets, managing to launch developments in other states, such as Espírito Santo and Rio de Janeiro, in addition to reaching the satellite cities of the Federal District.
In 2006, Direcional Engenharia expanded to the north of the country and launched in Manaus a development of 1,984 housing units, with complete infrastructure that included leisure areas, green areas, institutional areas, and another for commerce.
With the creation of its subsidiary, Direcional Vendas, the company began to provide services in the intermediation of buying, selling, and renting properties, in addition to offering real estate consulting services, and in 2009 it became recognized as the 5th largest construction company in Brazil.
In November 2009, the company completed its initial public offering of shares, raising approximately R$274 million, used for expanding the company's operational activities. In 2011, the company completed a primary and secondary offering of shares, resulting in the raising of R$228.8 million, which was reinvested in land acquisitions and popular launches, in addition to financing a new growth plan for the coming years.
In 2013, the company recorded a 17% increase in sales and a 20% increase in net revenue, and in the following year, 2014, the company was considered the 3rd largest construction company in Brazil in total constructed area. In that same year, the company continued to stand out within the ‘Minha Casa, Minha Vida’ program.
The following years were marked by an increase in the representativeness of products aimed at the more popular public in general, and in 2018, the company went through the most important period in its history, with the consolidation of the MCMV operation and other achievements.
