Coteminas is a holding company that operates in the textile sector, focused on the production of yarns, fabrics, home textile products, bed, table and bath items, denim and jeans, and professional uniforms. The company is the parent company of Companhia Tecidos Santanense and Springs Global, and owns the brands MMartan, Wamsutta, Springmaid, Artex, Santista, Garcia, Calfat, Arco-Íris and Fantasia.
In total, the company has 22 factories spread across the states of Paraíba, Santa Catarina, and Rio Grande do Norte. In addition to the national territory, where it is responsible for 20% of cotton consumption, the company also has operations in the USA, Argentina, and Canada.
With a product portfolio focused on the bed, table, and bath segments, Coteminas is recognized for the quality of its services, which rigorously adhere to the standards established by the market.
Additionally, the company has a Research Center dedicated to maintaining production, constantly attuned to technological and design resources that reflect the best and most updated production processes and market trends.
The history of Coteminas began in 1967, when José Alencar, in partnership with Luiz Paula Ferreira, founded Companhia de Tecidos Norte de Minas (Coteminas), located in Montes Claros, Minas Gerais. The spinning and weaving factory was founded in 1975.
In the 1980s, the company acquired the operational unit in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, allowing it to expand its operations. In the 1990s, still as part of the operational expansion process, the company built two new factories in Campina Grande (PB).
Also in the 1990s, Coteminas acquired factories in Blumenau (SC) and João Pessoa (PB), in addition to entering the consumer goods segment in Brazil, after acquiring the brands Santista and Artex. Furthermore, the company also acquired two brands in Argentina, Arco-Íris and Fantasia.
In 2006, Coteminas formed a strategic alliance with Springs Industries (USA), which, the following year, led to the IPO of its subsidiary, Springs Global. The MMartan brand was acquired in 2009.
By 2010, the company's focus shifted to expanding its product offerings and integrating retail industries. The number of MMartan stores was increased, and the company launched Artex stores.
In 2018, Springs Industries' subsidiary (Springs Global) reached an agreement with the American company Keeco, specializing in home products. On the Brazilian Stock Exchange, Coteminas is listed with common shares (CTNM3) and preferred shares (CTNM4), and is also present in the fractional market (CTNM3F and CTNM4F).
