Bradespar is an investment company controlled by Bradesco, founded in the year 2000. Currently, the company holds about 6% of Vale's voting capital – a Brazilian multinational mining company and one of the largest logistics operators in Brazil.

Initially, Bradespar was founded with the aim of being part of the shareholding control of large companies in the country's economic sector. However, since 2019, Vale is the only company that is part of the investment company's portfolio.
In early 2019, the country experienced the collapse of the Brumadinho dam. As a result, Vale's shares fell drastically, harming Bradespar's results. However, with the agreements and measures taken in the aftermath of the tragedy, the company managed to recover in front of the authorities and affected parties from the incident.
Moreover, the group that controls Bradespar holds just over 77% of the company's common shares, as well as 1% of the preferred shares. Basically, the controlling group is formed by Nova Cidade de Deus Participações S.A, NCF Participações S.A, Cidade de Deus – Cia. Comercial Participações, and Fundação Bradesco.
Shortly after a year of Bradespar's founding, the company joined Level I of the Novo Mercado at B3, that is, the highest level of corporate governance on the stock exchange.
Therefore, the investment company's operations are focused on creating value for the shareholders who are part of the company, through relevant stakes in companies that are leaders in their sectors. In Vale, for example, Bradespar acts directly in senior management, through members of the Board of Directors, as well as Advisory Committees.

The history of Bradespar began in 2000, when the company was founded with the aim of being part of the control of leading companies in the economic sector.
One year after its founding, in 2001, the investment company entered Level I of Corporate Governance at B3, in addition to having its shares traded on the London OTC and Latibex, the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In 2005, the minimum dividend policy was announced. Two years later, in 2007, the company underwent an administrative restructuring aimed at reducing expenses. As part of the restructuring, Bradespar outsourced the execution of the services provided and, in addition, reduced the number of statutory directors to just two.

By 2008, the investment company carried out its 1st public issuance of promissory notes, valued at R$ 1.4 billion. The following year, the 2nd public issuance of promissory notes was carried out, along with the 1st public issuance of debentures.
In 2014, to settle debts related to the Judicial Process, Bradespar joined REFIS, a program aimed at judicial recovery. In 2017, the company increased its stake in Vale by 10% after renewing the company's Shareholders' Agreement.
Currently, the Controlling Group of Bradespar is formed by the companies Fundação Bradesco, Cidade de Deus – Cia. Comercial Participações, NCF Participações S.A., and Nova Cidade de Deus Participações S.A.
