Monark Bicycles is a company that operates in the manufacturing and assembly of bicycles. Based in São Paulo, the company focuses its production primarily on popular and children's bicycles. However, it also produces intermediate models.

In addition, the company offers technical assistance services related to its products. Basically, the company operates in the manufacturing and assembly of women's, men's, children's bicycles, and transport models.

The history of Monark Bicycles began in 1948 with the founding of Monark Indústria e Comércio Ltda, in Bela Vista, São Paulo.
In the beginning, the company worked with the importation and assembly of bicycles. However, over time the company began to manufacture its own products.

In 1951, after a phase of significant growth, the company purchased an area in Chácara Santo Antônio, São Paulo, where it moved its factory and office.
In 1962, the company was renamed and became known as Bicicletas Monark S.A. At that time, the company focused on the production of steel, plastic, and aluminum bicycles.
The company's IPO occurred in 1971. It is listed on the stock exchange in the cyclical consumer sector and in the bicycle segment.
In the 70s and 80s, Bicicletas Monark was the main rival of Caloi. To give you an idea, the company sold about 2 million bicycles a year and had 10,000 employees.

However, between 2006 and 2008, the company closed its factories in Manaus and São Paulo. In 2008, it transferred its industrial activities to the city of Indaiatuba, São Paulo.
Currently, the company is not showing good growth; instead, it is reducing its production.
