J.L. Aliperti S.A. (APTI4) was founded in the Brazilian industrial sector in 1924 and is headquartered in the city of São Paulo. It started as a steel mill, but today the company is focused on simply participating in the society of its subsidiaries as a holding company.
Thus, Aliperti functions as a holding company for the other products of the group. Its revenue comes from dividends from controlled companies, mainly in the agribusiness sector, such as Agroeldorado Agricultura e Pecuária Ltda.
Aliperti emerged in the market in 1924 as a repair shop for carts and carriages in the Brás neighborhood of São Paulo. By 1932, it began producing steel for the construction industry. In 1998, it leased its industrial park to Gerdau.
In 2016, the Securities and Exchange Commission suspended Aliperti's controlling shareholder, Ciro Mônico Alexandre Aliperti, and his three sons, who are administrators of Aliperti, for abuse of control power for seven years.
In 2018, after a balance sheet review, the situation of the steel mill became complicated to the point of causing significant uncertainty regarding the company's ability to continue its operational activities.
Additionally, in this same balance sheet, there was reference to 43 labor lawsuits and 26 civil lawsuits against the company.
