Founded in the 1970s as a project of the São Paulo city government aimed at promoting tourism in the capital, SpTuris has a business model based on the city's tourist activities.
In the company's operations, the management of the Anhembi Complex stands out. Additionally, it is dedicated to managing other venues and organizing events, such as the Virada Cultural, the Interlagos racetrack, and the development of the São Paulo Ecotourism Hub.
The history of São Paulo Turismo began in 1970 when the São Paulo city government created the company to promote and develop the tourism sector in the capital. The IPO occurred in 1977.
Anhembi Park, the largest event complex in Latin America, was the first major business for which São Paulo Turismo became responsible.
At the same time, the company was also responsible for creating policies and structuring tourism activities in the city of São Paulo. SpTurismo also worked on promoting attractions.
By the early 1990s, São Paulo Turismo gained greater relevance in the city's tourism sector by becoming responsible for the 25 de Março Shopping Tourist Terminal, one of the areas with the highest foot traffic in the capital.

Subsequently, in the early 2000s, the company increased its presence in São Paulo tourism and became the administrator of the José Carlos Pace racetrack, known as the Interlagos racetrack.
This racetrack is famous for hosting the only F1 Grand Prix in South America and various cultural events. In recent years, São Paulo Turismo has focused on developing projects aimed at attracting new audiences to the city of São Paulo.
For example, the São Paulo Ecotourism Hub is a division of the company dedicated to ecological tourism, taking place in natural preservation areas further away from downtown São Paulo.
Finally, São Paulo Turismo has also actively invested in cultural events over the past decade, particularly highlighting the Virada Cultural and increasing the promotion of São Paulo's carnival.
